Meet Hannah Barrett

I didn't think yoga was for me either

A decade in finance, a body that couldn’t touch its toes and a belief that yoga was just stretching.

Then, in a time of stress, I decided to try it every day for 14 days and I never went back.

Whether I need a sweaty power practise or to calm the chaos in my head, my mat feels like home and I never regret stepping onto it.

Hannah's journey

2013

Tried yoga when life was stressful

In the middle of a decade in finance , working as an actuary, where the pressure felt relentless, I tried yoga.  What surprised me wasn’t the flexibility or the calm that everyone always talks about. It was the strength. Not just in my body, though that came too, but in how I handled everything else. The stress, the pressure, the moments when life felt like too much. I kept coming back because yoga gave me something I genuinely couldn’t find anywhere else.

2016

Completed my first 200 hour teacher training

I didn’t know what I was going to do with it, I just knew yoga had had such a big impact on my own life, I wanted other people to experience that too.

2017

My daughter was born

My daughter’s start to life was traumatic. She spent time in neonatal intensive care and I was hit with postnatal depression and PTSD. During that period I wasn’t looking for a perfect practice or a transformational experience. I just needed somewhere to land when everything felt completely out of control. Yoga was that place. Not in one big life-changing moment, but in the small, quiet ones. Breathing, moving, coming back to myself again and again when the noise got too loud.

Incredible teaching experiences

Over the three years after Amelie was born, I had some incredible teaching experience. Everything from one to ones, teaching thousands of people at festivals, launching a postnatal e-book and many more.

A note from

Hannah

My yoga practice added something to my life  I didn’t know I was missing. A way to be strong and steady at the same time, even when everything around me wasn’t.

That’s what I built Yoga Happy for. Not for some imaginary person with ninety spare minutes and a candlelit spare room, but for the version of you that’s stretched thin and running on whatever’s left. Practices short enough to actually happen and strong enough to count.

So if you’ve ever thought yoga isn’t for you, I understand. I thought the same. You belong here.
