I still absolutely love Yoga Happy, it continues to bring me so much joy.
I recently came back from a month-long holiday, which meant less time for yoga. But I allowed myself to fully embrace the present moment with my family, and that felt just as meaningful. Still, as soon as I returned home, my body craved movement—and there it was, Yoga Happy, waiting for me. 🥰
My yoga journey began when I completed my teacher training in Australia in 2019. I even worked as a flexologist for about six months before moving to Norway in 2023. That journey peeled away layers of myself I had long forgotten. I still remember crying on my mat for an entire hour during a yoga retreat, not even knowing why. It was raw, and it was liberating.
Then life threw me into some of my darkest moments, pregnancy losses that shook me to my core. Through it all, yoga was my saving grace. It held me when nothing else could.
My third pregnancy was a success, and in 2022, amid the COVID days, I welcomed my beautiful boy into the world. Once again, yoga was right there with me, grounding me through the chaos.
Motherhood has been the most beautiful and the most disorienting experience of my life. In the early days, everything was about survival, tiny stretches of sleep, endless feeds, and the kind of exhaustion that lived deep in my bones. My identity shifted overnight. I wasn’t just me anymore; I was someone’s mum. My world became so small and so big at the same time.
Somewhere along the way, I started to lose sight of myself. The woman who once cried on her yoga mat to release years of hidden pain now cried quietly in the kitchen because the weight of it all felt too much. I missed the spontaneity, the stillness, the pieces of me that existed before motherhood.
But yoga has a way of finding you when you need it most. In November 2024, I miscarried… again. I downloaded Yoga Happy in January 2025 for the free-trial (I have no plan of ending my subscription). Slowly, I began to return to the mat, not for the perfect practice or the physical challenge, but simply to breathe. At first, it was five minutes, then ten and then a full class. Each time, I felt a little more of myself return.
And honestly, the Yoga Happy app has been the perfect companion for this season of life. As an overwhelmed mum, I don’t always have the energy, or the time, to roll out a full practice. But with Yoga Happy, I can choose exactly what I need in the moment: a quick reset, a grounding meditation, or a flow that helps me feel alive in my body again. It takes away the pressure of “fitting in yoga” and instead makes it feel doable, nurturing, and accessible, even in the chaos of motherhood.
I realized I wasn’t returning to the old me at all. I was meeting someone new. A woman softened by love, stretched by responsibility, cracked open by vulnerability, and strengthened by resilience. Yoga wasn’t just helping me reclaim myself, it was guiding me into the next version of who I am meant to be.
Now, when I step onto my mat, I don’t just move for myself. I move for the woman I was, the mother I am, and the future self I’m still becoming.
This is my practice now: not losing myself, but slowly becoming. And with Yoga Happy by my side, I know I’ll always have the space to meet myself again and again.
Love and light,
Maria
